Every time I see this I think to myself “You defaced a book? Hell no I’m not marrying you.”
Yeah, I feel that way too. Glad I’m not the only one. Though I really like those flowers I’ve seen made from books. I’m torn over those…
He could have gotten a blank box for a couple of dollars, photocopied the first page of the chapter, pasted it to the inside of the box, made the box look just like the book; without defacing the book.
#PRINTED BOOKS ARE NOT SACRED #THERE ARE MILLIONS OF THEM #I HAVE A LOT OF FEELS #ABOUT HOW PEOPLE WORSHIP THE PHYSICAL FORM OF BOOKS #AND NOT THE WORDS INSIDE #THE WORDS ARE THE IMPORTANT BIT #AND USING A BOOK FOR SOMETHING SWEET LIKE THIS ISN’T DEFACEMENT OF PROPERTY IF THE PERSON OWNS THE BOOK. BOOKS ARE UBIQUITOUS #AND HAVING WORKED IN A USED BOOKSTORE A LOT OF THEM GET TRASHED #AND NOT JUST CRAPPY BOOKS #GOOD ONES LIKE THIS ONE #I WOULD RATHER SOMEONE USE THIS FOR SOMETHING MEMORABLE LIKE THIS THAN GET TRASHED #DON’T JUDGE PEOPLE WHO TRY TO MAKE PRETTY THINGS WITH BOOKS #BOOKS CAN BE REPLACED AND ARE NOT INHERENTLY SACRED (via andrastesgrace)
Reblogging for the tags, basically. As long as the person proposing didn’t use MY copy of the book I would be good. :P
I must however admit to having feels for my own copies of books. I write in the margins, I put little smiley-faces next to paragraphs or sentences I particularly like. I store a lot of myself in my books.
I know it might sound a little preachy, but I honestly believe this.
Hello friends, friendly followers, and other denizens of tumblr!
I’m sure you have all seen these reblog contests before, and this one really isn’t anything new. I run a small business making and selling handmade books to be used as journals or sketchbooks or just to sit on your bookshelf being pretty. So far it has just been a side hobby, but I’m about to graduate from college in a few weeks and am hoping to expand this into a full-time job.
At this point, I can’t afford to pay for advertising and still sell my books at the prices I want. I want them to be affordable for people like me (college students on a budget) but at the current quantities I’m making, I can’t afford to raise my costs without raising the price as well.
So that is where you come in. I’m relying on you, my lovely followers and fellow book-lovers of tumblr, to help spread the word so I can keep making books! And while I can’t afford to pay you directly for hitting the reblog button, I can offer you an incentive: the chance to win a handmade book delivered right to your door for Christmas! And if Christmas isn’t your thing, then just for being awesome!
AND, so that your chances don’t diminish when you repost this, the number of books I give away will increase the more people reblog this! So spread it as much as possible without fear that your followers will steal the book that should have been yours! For every ten people that reblog this, I will give away one book — that means you have a ten percent chance of getting a free book just by hitting reblog!
You don’t need to follow me or anything (although it would be great if you did!) in order to win; anyone who has reblogged this post by December 18th will be entered and the winners randomly drawn.
Thank you, and good luck!
tl;dr reblog for free books!
These are brilliant!
‘Specially the “At Hogwarts, BRB” and the “In the Arena, BRB” ones!

I’ll take the lot! :D
Right now I’m reading a book on Greek mythology, “Death comes to Pemberley” by P.D. James, a biography about Leif Juster, “The Maltese Falcon” by Dashiell Hammet and “The Western Canon” by Harold Bloom. Make of it what you will. (I can’t make anything out of it. :P) And I’m not even listing the books I read for class.
Also I want flowers. And dinner. And chocolate. … Please.
Of course I need a library! Do you really think I’ll have room in the
rest of my future home which so far consists mostly of book shelves study for all my books? No! You underestimate how many books I’m gonna buy once I know where to put them! Of course I need a library, you silly goose. (Geese? How many reads these posts anyways? Anyone?)
